Joyride Tampa HIV Raises $282K to Support Local Programs

Local HIV support programs received a major boost this weekend thanks to the annual Joyride Tampa HIV fundraiser, which raised $282,431.

The 165-mile ride from Orlando to St. Petersburg attracted dozens of cyclists, all aiming to support services like HIV testing, counseling, prevention programs, and housing assistance.

JoyrideAccording to EPIC, one of the beneficiary organizations, funding from federal grants has declined in recent years, making community support more critical than ever. “Every dollar raised ensures we can continue providing essential services,” said EPIC director Winheim.

Event organizer Bill Bone emphasized the long-term significance of the ride. “This isn’t just a fundraiser. It’s a statement that our community cares,” Bone said. “We’re proud to see participants pushing themselves while raising awareness and vital funds.”

The Joyride is more than just a fundraising event; it’s a platform for awareness. Participants like Juan Orellana described the ride as both physically challenging and emotionally rewarding.

“You can feel the impact of your effort when you see the community come together,” Orellana said.

HIV continues to affect thousands of Floridians each year. Events like the Joyride play a key role in addressing gaps in service funding and keeping awareness high.

Organizers stressed that all proceeds go directly to local programs, emphasizing transparency and community impact.
